Platform web shell
The password signup form asks for Your name, email, and password. Names are required,
normalized through the shared contracts helper (trimmed, whitespace collapsed,
120 characters), and sent as displayName to /api/auth/register. Settings can
change the name later. OAuth continues to use the provider's name.
Run pnpm test:unit and pnpm type-check for local verification. The coordinator
verifies the deployed signup flow in the browser.
Related UX opportunities
The task-first onboarding study compares the existing login continuation with the separate welcome route. It proposes returning to the same device/app task, with provider settings offered only when that task needs them. The setup-view journey keeps approval, saved access and runtime readiness distinct. These suggestions reuse existing identity and setup owners; they do not claim that normal registration loses its return route.
Shared appearance
The shell installs the light/dark theme owned by @open-matrix/hivecast-brand.
Application shadow trees inherit its --mx-* tokens. Start, application headers
and taskbar use the same icon vocabulary; task widths use the shared task tokens
and task buttons expose the full application name in their title. The desktop
keeps its stable bottom row without adding a shell top bar.
