@open-matrix/chat (1.1.33)
Installation
@open-matrix:registry=npm install @open-matrix/chat@1.1.33"@open-matrix/chat": "1.1.33"About this package
@open-matrix/chat
Real-time chat webapp for the Matrix actor system. Provides multi-session AI-powered chat with define_component support.
Part of the Matrix actor system.
Related UX opportunities
Quiet captions that expand into the same conversation and pulling an answer into the workspace propose alternate presentations of the existing request, transcript and structured result. They do not create a second conversation, resend a prompt, or claim new behavior is shipped. Action-needed states stay visible; ordinary narration need not occupy the whole workspace.
Conversation readiness
Chat watches the tenant's system.agents Registry and health reports, then
confirms readiness with $sessionList using the signed-in user's session.
$status success alone does not prove that session operations are served.
A confirmation timeout is displayed as UNHEALTHY; no inference is requested.
In source-mode environments, the birth entrypoint scopes session-operation
silencing to platform-services. A user deployment writes an empty
silencedOps list, including on an in-place restart, so its own Agents actor
can serve Chat's session list and transcript. The platform's shared responder
retains its session-isolation suppression. The current behavior is described in
Agents and Chat.
Conversation keys
The list and both session-state writers use SDK core's canonicalTargetKey,
matching the platform prompt writer: <authorityRoot>\u001F<logicalMount>.
The authority root comes from Chat's bound user context, independently of the
service host. Platform lists also read older dotted and bare-mount keys within
the same tenant, without rewriting rows. Interface-qualified keys stay separate.
pnpm test:hosting covers list visibility and both state writers; pnpm type-check
checks the package. Browser acceptance is performed by the deployment coordinator.

Older conversations
The session panel loads the newest 50 conversations first. Show older
conversations (N loaded) requests the owner's next cursor and appends that
page. It disappears at the end; a failed page keeps the loaded conversations
and offers another click. Older rows use the same open and delete actions.
Selection and deletion are sibling buttons in each row, so both actions retain
valid keyboard and screen-reader semantics.
Both platform and home session stores support bounded pages (maximum 100).
Title search requires a service operation and is tracked in
2026-10-03-chat-conversation-title-search.
pnpm test:browser includes the SessionPanel paging, retry, open and delete component test.
Application presentation
The application uses the shared @open-matrix/hivecast-brand/application-header
header with its name, description and icon from matrix.package.json. Existing
conversation creation stays in the session list, so the header does not duplicate
its New action. Colours, typography and layout tokens inherit the
ui-kit theme in both light and dark mode. New styles use --mx-* tokens;
pnpm check:application-styles prevents growth of remaining literal styles.
